Help me I was scammed!

  • Aug. 29th, 2008 at 5:53 PM

Hello WYDians! One of the worst things that can happen to anyone in-game is to be scammed. So in this update, I’m gonna share some tips to prevent you from being scammed.

  1. Trade only with people you trust. As much as possible, don’t trade with people you just met today. If someone keeps bugging you to let him borrow your mount or weapon, be smart and just ignore him. Once entertained, these scammers will be more persistent.
  2. If a deal is too good to be true, more than likely it’s a scam. Let’s say someone offers to buy your dragon puppy for 100m, don’t fall for it. You may be the next victim of a scam.
  3. When doing important trades, always take a screenshot. This way, you have proof that the deal did take place. It can be beneficial in both ways. If you’ve been scammed then he can’t deny that the deal took place. Or if the scammer insists that he didn’t receive the item or gold and keeps bugging you then you can shove the screenshot in his face.
  4. Use the Q&A. If the worst thing happened and you did get scammed, then it’s time to use the Q&A. I’m happy to say that the GMs are very active in this game and they almost always in my experience resolve the problem at the same day. Also, the screenshot will be very useful at this stage to help the GMs determine what really happened.
  5. Lastly, trust no one. I’m not embarrassed to say that I’ve also been a victim of scams because of my trusting attitude. But I’ve learned my lesson the hard way so I just want to share these things with you guys. Remember, even guildmates can betray you so be very careful who you trust.
I hope you learned something and see you in-game.

Thank yous

Hello WYDians! Today is the last day of the Wydian Journal Contest so I'd like to thank everyone that took the time to visit my blog. Thank you also to the GMs and CMs who made this event possible. Thank you for all the laks I got during this contest. I hope you can extend this event or you can make another one like it because I think this event brought out the writer that is inside each wydian that joined this contest. But honestly speaking, we all joined because of the laks, right guys? But seriously, I never thought I would be writing a blog until this event came up. So thank you GMs for letting me tap into my hidden potentials. I also appreciate our CMs who came out at the same time of this event. Welcome CMs and thanks for making the game more enjoyable. Special thanks to CM Dhar for the game renamer link. For some reason, the WYDWO thingie doesn't work anymore.

Anyways, even if this event ends today, I probably would still update this blog once in a while so be sure to check it out. See you all in-game. Peace!

Thoughts on Heroes

  • Aug. 25th, 2008 at 8:29 PM

Hello WYDians! Today is a Monday but it’s a holiday once again here in this beautiful country where I live. What’s the occasion you may ask? It’s National Heroes Day so in this update I’m going to tell you about heroes.

Our national hero is Dr. Jose Rizal. He is not a war freak like most heroes I know. He is actually a quiet man more involved in academics. As you know our country was under Spanish rule for 300 years and the time came when people got fed up and they wanted to revolt. These people invited to Dr. Rizal to the revolution by bloody means but he declined and instead wrote the classics “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo”. These novels are fictitious but in fact they depict the hardships of the people under the Spanish rule. So the Spaniards became angry and they shot Dr. Rizal.

In WYD, I think the heroes are the academy OPs who helped all of us when we were all still noobs. They are the ones who explained to us the ins and outs of the game and they helped us level up by doing waters and guided us during league wars. So this update is dedicated to all of you OPs out there but special thanks are in order to the OPs of PH academy who helped me the most – Citrix and chester13. Thanks guys! You are my heroes.

‘Til next time. See you in game.

My Favorite Snacks

  • Aug. 22nd, 2008 at 9:52 PM

Hello WYDians! Playing WYD for long hours makes everyone hungry at some point. So in this update I'm gonna list my favorite snacks that are only available (I think) in my hometown-Philippines. Here's my Top 5...

5. Halo-Halo - in English literally means "mix-mix". It's composed of various fruits, sweet beans, crispies mixed with crushed ice and milk. Very nice to eat during hot summer days.

4. Banana-Cue - This is banana deep fried in oil with brown sugar. It is cheap but very delicious.

3. Fishballs - This snack is fish filet rolled in balls then deep fried (again) in oil. You dip it in sweet and sour sauce or plain vinegar.

2. Isaw - This snack is grilled chicken intestines. Pork intestines can also be used and it's also called isaw.

1. Balut - This snack is not for the faint-hearted. This is boiled duck egg which is about to hatch. You dip it in salt or pour vinegar on it. Tastes fabulous (if you've got the guts to eat it).

So there's my top 5 favorite snacks. 'Til next update.

Blackout, Ninoy Aquino and SHIELD

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 8:48 PM

Hello WYDians! Man, I wasn't able to post yesterday because there was a blackout in our area. The blackout was caused by Typhoon Karen that recently struck the Philippine shores. For some reason, when there is a power outage we don't say blackout here in the Philippines. We say "brownout". Maybe because our skin is brown hehe.

Today is Ninoy Aquino Day, one of our heroes here in the Philippines. So I'd like to give him a little tribute in my blog. I'm not gonna google about him. This is purely from what I know. Ninoy Aquino was a senator that got jailed because he didn't get along well with our president back then. But he went on a hunger strike and he got sick so he needed to go to the USA to get well. But when he got well, he made some speeches in the US that was against the president. That made the president really angry. So when he returned the president ordered  that he be shot at the airport. So he was shot and that's basically it. Because of that, his wife became the president and his daughter became a game show host. And what did he get for being shot? One airport was named after him and his face was put in the 500 peso bill. So cheers to Ninoy on his 25th anniversary!

Our hero Ninoy Aquino

One more thing I'd like to share is I joined SHIELD guild. Dumptires is a really cool guy and I hope to enjoy the game more with my new guild SHIELD.

Dumptires and me hanging out in Erion

That's all for now. See you guys in game. Peace!

My Trip to Bicol

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Hello WYDians! You might be wondering why suddenly I disappeared from the face of the earth for the past week. So sorry if I wasn't able to even say goodbye but I went on an emergency trip to Bicol. You see my uncle passed away last week so I had to go to Bicol to pay my last respects. Today, I figured I'd tell you about my trip and let you see some of the places I visited during my 4-day stay in Bicol.

Bicol is located at the southern part of Luzon and is an hour's plane ride from Manila. The place I visited is just a stone throw away from the sea so I was treated to seafood, seafood and more seafood.

Mouth-watering crabs was my first meal

Bicol is also a place where many old churches can be found. One of the more famous is the Daraga Church which is a favorite shooting venue for local movies.

Daraga Church in Albay, Bicol

As in all things, I saved the best for last. Bicol is also the site of the world-famous Mount Mayon (an active volcano whose shape is an almost perfect cone). I was really fortunate to get good pic because on most days, the volcano is always surrounded by clouds.

World-famous Mt. Mayon with smoke spewing out

Maybe I'll tell you about my uncle's funeral next time or maybe not. Anyway, enjoy these pics and see you all in-game. I'm Back!!!

Useless Items

  • Aug. 10th, 2008 at 11:55 PM

Hello WYDians! I'm writing so late because I finished the basketball game between USA and China. But in today's update I wont write about the Olympics anymore. I think we've all had enough since all I've been talking about is the Olympics for two straight days now. Instead, I'll share with you some items I think is utterly useless in WYD. Have you ever obtained an item and exclaimed "This thing's so useless. What were the GMs thinking?". So here's mine...

1.  Recovery Herb (Maximum HP increase 25) sold by Martin in Armia - who buys this stuff? What good could you possibly get from 25 HP increase. What's more? It takes up 2 squares of space in your inventory. Pure trash.

2. Healing and Mana Potion (S) (Maximum HP/Mana Increase: 50) sold by Martin also  - same reason as above. At least it takes up only 1 space.

3. Transformation Release Letter sold by Mount Captor in Erion - I transformed to a gremlin, troll, carbunkle or whatever for a reason. That's because I'm pretty tired of my same old appearance. So I want to enjoy it as much as I can. I'm not in a hurry to be released from looking like a cool monster.

4. Armors being sold by NPCs in all towns - I get free armors whenever I reach a certain level and the free armors have perfect stats. Why do I need to buy armors from NPCs for?

That's all for today. I'll post more useless items that I encounter in the future. You can add your useless items through comments or you can defend the useless items I mentioned if you like. 'Til next time.

More WYD Olympic Events

  • Aug. 9th, 2008 at 11:11 PM

Hello WYDians! I didn't do much today. I just stayed at home and watched the Olympic games (and played WYD of course). So I'm still in the Olympic mood that's why I'll continue with my WYD Olympic events. This time, the events I thought of are not really Olympic events but fun events. So here goes...

1. Obstacle course - Players run around a course with markers and monsters along the way. Players should kill the monsters and complete the course. Player with best time win.

2. Dodge the Rujeper - Players are put inside a big room (or arena) full of Rujeper Brokens (or Kephras). Last man to die wins.

3. Hide and Seek - GM or CM will hide anywhere in WYDLand. First player to trade (or challenge) the GM or CM wins.

4. Bring me Game - GM or CM will be in one spot and say bring me a ___________ (any unusual item found in WYD). Examples of items could be speed of light bow, divine circle piece, hat or any item that is not readily available from NPCs. First player to trade the GM or CM with the correct item wins.

5. Labyrinth - in this game the GMs should construct a massive labyrinth with endless mazes just like in Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire. I think this would be very cool. Monsters can also be put inside. The player to emerge outside the other end of the labyrinth first wins.

OK so there you have it my WYD Olympic Fun Games. I hope the GMs can consider even some of my suggestions so we can have more fun in game. See yah next update.

WYD Olympics

  • Aug. 8th, 2008 at 11:42 PM

Hello WYDians! First of all, congratulations to my academy-Philippines for winning in today's Hardcore division in the league. Thanks master pepePH for the lak. Anyway, as you all know today's date is 08-08-08. This date happens once in a thousand years. Today is also the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Actually, I just finished watching the opening ceremony and it got me thinking - why not hold a WYD Olympics? (GMs and CMs I hope you're listening) So what Olympic events can we do in WYD? These are some of my thoughts...

1. Boxing - the most obvious sport. In here, fighters will fight without armors, pots, naiads, imps, angels, fairies, no heal abilities. Just bareknuckle good-old fashioned boxing. First fighter to hit the ground loses. Plain and simple. Fights can also be in teams of 3 vs 3, 5 vs 5 or royal rumble just like in the academy league.

2. Running - the Azran coliseum can be used for this event. Runners run around the coliseum for this event. First runner who crosses the finish line wins. Relay can also be done for this event.

3. Marathon - this is distance running. Players can start from Armia and finish line is in Azran.

4. Horse Racing - the racers can use the Azran coliseum again for this event or distance racing can also be done. Other mounts can also be used depending on the rules.

5. Horse Walking - just like horse racing but the mount will be set to walk mode.

So that's it for today, I'll add more events when I think of new ideas or you can add your events through comments. Enjoy the Olympics everyone!

On Being a Beast Master

  • Aug. 7th, 2008 at 9:47 PM

Hello WYDians! Today nothing special happened to me in-game so I thought I would just talk about my class - the mighty Beast Master. I'm sure almost all of us at one point or another have been asked why we chose our class. In my case, people always ask me why I chose to be a Beast Master. And my answer has always been - "Evilator looks so cool!". I mean it's true the Evilator is on a class of its own. No character looks more cool than the Evilator (in my opinion that is). Actually, I first chose to be a Beast Master because I love pets. Since I love pets I wanted naturally to be a Summoner. But the first time I laid my eyes on an Evilator, I instantly fell in love. My plan to be a Summoner got thrown out the window and I set my sights on getting the BM nature last skill.

Being a nature BM has its pros and cons. I've always been envious of the TK's ability to wield all those cool weapons while I'm limited to a throwing weapon. I also don't have the ability to conjure fireballs, lightnings or whatever that foema thinks of to throw at you. I also don't have the hunter's insanely high damage not to mention critical rate. What I have is my thick armor (high def), my long life (high hp) and my extremely cool looks (Evilator mode). I've always felt the nature BM had been at the shorter end of the skills stick. But thanks to the new patch and the new skills, the nature BM is now a force to be reckoned with. To everyone who used to laugh at my decision for choosing Nature BM, look who's laughing now hahaha. 'Til the next post, happy gaming everyone!

Show me the Money (Cube)

  • Aug. 6th, 2008 at 10:17 PM

Hello WYDians! Have you ever heard of the item called "money cube"? I heard of this item yesterday from my guildmate Darknight19. Supposedly it doubles the money in your inventory or your money will disappear depending on your luck. Wanting to double my money without thinking of the consequence I wanted to try this "money cube" thing. My other guildmate and hunting buddy DrowRanger21 became curious about doubling his money when he heard about it. And wouldn't you know, he happened to have 2 pcs of money cube with him. I gave him my 500k (my only money) to try and make it double. Unfortunately, he got a message saying "use another server". We tried all the servers in vain to use the money cube. He even joked it must be in Server 5 lol. He even gave me the money cube for me to try but same result "use another server".

I didn't return the money cube to Drow because I really wanted to find out if the money cube can really double my money. So today, I tried to use the money cube by right clicking on it with 1m in my inventory. And guess what? Ka-ching! My 1m became 2m! I immediately pmed Drow saying the money cube works. So I gave back the last money cube to him and he proceeded to lose his precious 200k lol.

So why did the money cube work today and didn't work yesterday? Well, I'm not sure but the only thing I noticed was that today when I logged in there's a message saying "you have succeded in sealing kephra by THEBALANCE guild". I think you can only use the money cube when kephra is sealed. Maybe kephra doesn't approve of gambling hehe.

Money Cube - use at your own risk hehe

CMs at Game of General Event

  • Aug. 5th, 2008 at 6:26 PM

Hello WYDians! I attended the Game of the General event today and I was surprised because there were no generals to be seen. Only a bunch of God Bays and God Odins appeared which were annihilated the moment they appeared. What made the event fun was the unexpected visit of our CMs and GMs. Everyone was surprised when a big dragon appeared and everyone wanted to kill it. But it was GM God showing off hehe. CMs Dhar and Nyx on the other hand appeared as giants. CM Dhar's horse is so big waaaah. I got scraps and quest ticket boxes from the event which made it worth it. But it would've been better if powders were dropped instead of scraps. All in all I had fun during this event.

Here you can see CM Dhar and his BIG horsie lol

How to do double client?

  • Aug. 4th, 2008 at 10:01 PM

Hello WYDians! Today's tip is very useful if you know how to do it. With double client, you can hunt stronger monsters with the help of your healer in another account. You can even do triple client and it is legal but my computer is not so good so I can only do double client. Actually, I know someone who can do up to 6 clients but of course I will never tell who it is hehe.

So how to do double client?

First, click WYDGLOBAL shortcut in your desktop but don't click START. Instead, click CONFIGURATION. When you get to CONFIGURATION menu, on the right side you will see MODE, click WINDOWED under it. This is so that your screen will be in window mode when you play. It is impossible to do double client when you play in FULL screen. Also, you might want to make your screen smaller so you can easily shift between one client to another. Do this by choosing a smaller size in the RESOLUTION found on the left side. After doing this, you can now close the CONFIGURATION menu and click START to open your first client.

To open your 2nd client, access the WYDGLOBAL folder found inside your computer. Double-click the file WYDWO. This will open another window of the game.

When the 2nd window opens you can now input the account name and password of your healer so your main character can hunt stronger monsters without using too many potions.

Me I like hunting Tarons in desert. I just hope the PKers won't PK me while I afk hunt hehehe.

My First Entry

  • Aug. 3rd, 2008 at 11:45 PM

Hello Wydians!

Welcome to my wydblog! My IGN is Tuta. I am currently a level 363 BM from the Philippine Academy. I've been playing WYD Global for quite a few months now on and off. I enjoy playing WYD because leveling up is fun because you can chat during waters and hunts thanks to CC mode. I also enjoy the academy league very much (especially when we win XD just like last Friday). Oh well, I'll keep it short this time. In the next days I'll post some tips or tricks or whatever the hell I've been doing in WYD or in my life. See you guys in game!
